About

Production software, built by someone who needed it

Route to Ship is production workflow software for Shopify stores that make, personalize, engrave, embroider, assemble, or manufacture products to order. It turns each paid Shopify order into a trackable production job, routes it through the departments you define, gives every worker a live task queue, and shows customers a branded page that tracks their order from paid to shipped.

Why it exists

Route to Ship began as an in-house tool. Founder Herman du Plessis built it for his wife's custom-jewellery and personalised-products Shopify store, where multi-step production — engraving, quality control, packing — was being held together with spreadsheets, Zapier, and a stack of third-party tools that kept breaking. There was no live view of where each order sat, and customers had no way to follow production. Route to Ship replaced all of that with one pipeline that runs from paid Shopify order to shipment.

Our relationship with Shopify

Route to Ship is an independent app published on the Shopify App Store. It installs from Shopify, authenticates with Shopify's OAuth token-exchange flow, syncs orders via Shopify webhooks, and bills through Shopify Billing — so charges appear on your normal Shopify invoice. Route to Ship is not affiliated with or endorsed by Shopify beyond being a listed third-party app. See our Shopify integration page for detail.
